The symbol of Leuca is its Sanctuary, dedicated to Santa Maria de Finibus Terrae. It stands where an ancient pagan temple once rose, and still preserves its original altar. Nearby, a stone cross recalls the passage of Saint Peter, who according to tradition stopped here on his journey to Rome. Beside the Sanctuary rises the majestic Leuca lighthouse, the second tallest in Italy. Leuca is not only about beauty: it is also about legend. The most famous is that of Leuc\u00e0sia<\/strong>, the lovestruck siren who, blinded by sorrow, unleashed a storm and forever changed the fate of the two young lovers Melisso and Aristula. Their bodies became Punta Ristola<\/strong> and Punta Meliso<\/strong>, the two rocky promontories that still seem to face each other from afar.

Walking through the centre of Leuca, you will encounter 19th-century noble villas that seem suspended between dream and reality. Among the most fascinating are Villa Meridiana, with its elegant sundial; Villa Pia, with its crenellated walls; Villa Mellacqua, romantic and almost fairy-tale-like; and Villa Episcopo, echoing Eastern influences.
